“I wrote this book to preserve a memory. I published it to share an experience.”

Leaving Yellowstone for the last time, I knew things were going to be different. Something special had just happened and, like national parks, it had to be protected. I never could articulate what made it so meaningful, other than the feeling of being completely at home.

When you’re stripped of all your distractions—school, work, sports—you learn to take a hard look at yourself and ask a question that’s nearly impossible to answer: Who really am I?

Leaving Yellowstone for the last time, I knew things were going to be different. Something special had just happened and, like national parks, it had to be protected. I never could articulate what made it so meaningful, other than the feeling of being completely at home.

When you’re stripped of all your distractions—school, work, sports—you learn to take a hard look at yourself and ask a question that’s nearly impossible to answer: Who really am I?

Yellowstone taught me that it was okay to show up fully as myself, a concept I was wildly uncomfortable with for a long time. I was allowed to take up my fair share of space in the world.

To simply exist was enough.

My hope for those who read the book is to not only feel seen and understood, but to also develop their own appreciation for the greater world around them, whatever that may be—nature, books, a long walk, a conversation on the porch, anything. You are here and life exists.

We were meant to enjoy the finer things in life.

Introducing:

THE FINER THINGS CLUB

As a 20-year-old college student and devout people pleaser, Lauren spent most of her young adult life doing everything she was supposed to do – studying, testing, and job hunting.

One empty summer day, she decided to travel 1,300 miles to work for two seasons in the most desolate region in the United States: Yellowstone National Park.

With zero connections or internet service, Lauren ventured off into the Wyoming woods in search of the confidence she needed to become her authentic self.
